Rock your soul in the cradle of rhythm with the Djembabes!

The DJEMBABES will be performing Saturday, Feb. 27th at Central Market at West 35th St. and N. Lamar Blvd in Austin! Bring the whole family and all your friends and come rock out with Austin's favorite All Women's Drum/Song Ensemble ! The first set is from 6:30pm-7:30pm and set two is from 8pm-9pm! Come early to find a parking place....enjoy shopping at Central Market, have dinner and drinks on the decks at the cafe and listen to the mesmerizing music, rhythms and songs of West Africa performed by a lovely and lively group of 12 Austin women who, though not born in Africa, have had the spirit of Africa born inside them through this powerful and beautiful music! Come dance your spirit free and enjoy an evening of community, a full moon ( almost!), good food, good vibes, goods friends, and relaxation under the Texas skies! FREE!!!

THE DJEMBABES, Austin's FAVORITE All-Women's West African- Style DRUMSONG ENSEMBLE, are taking a performance break until September to rest and re-charge and focus on some new exciting material! Thank-you so much for your enthusiastic support of our group throughout this last year! Your love and support is what keeps us going and we are grateful for each of your beautiful smiling, dancing faces in our audiences! We believe this music is MAGIC! And we believe it is HEALING ! And we believe it can UPLIFT SPIRITS and UNIFY HEARTS! And we KNOW that our communities must dance and sing and make music together if we are to have PEACE ON EARTH and connect to our COMMON GROUND! We love this music and we play and sing and dance from a place deep in our hearts & souls, and we send it out to you with LOVE! HILDEGIRL/DJEMBABE BENEFIT CONCERT! The DJEMBABES will be back together with the Hildegirls for another exciting and uplifting joint concert( EARTHSONG-WOMANSONG!) on APRIL 14th at 8pm at Unity Church of the Hills, 9905 Anderson Mill Road! This wll be a benefit for our favorite local environmental group, SOS ( Save our Springs). There will also be the film debut of "THE EIGHTH FIRE", a documentary film about the prophecy for the Earth from the tribe. Djembabe Performances Upcoming in March!
March 8th
The Djembabes will be playing at Wild BAsin for Women's International Day at 8PM!

March 24th
We will perform Saturday afternoon at Hot Mamas at 3:30pm in the afternoon in Rashad's Women's International Music Fest. Wear your dancin' shoes and come rock out with us at hot Mamas! Bring family and friends! The head on over to Central Market for dinner!

Central Market( Lamar and 38th St.)will be the spot from 6:30pm until 9pm ( with a break between 7:30 and 8pm) on this same Saturday, March 24th! Please come and bring the kids, the Grand kids, the folks, cousins, Aunts and Uncles !

The Djembabes will be performing at the annual Hildegirls/Djembabe Extravaganza at Unity of the Hills on Anderson Mill Road on December 1th,2006 . The program begins at 7:30pm and we encourage everyone to come as early as 7pm to get a seat as these concerts usually sell out and no advance ticket sales are available. Our concert this year is to benefit GenAustin, a local organization that works diligently and with great commitment to insure the empowerpowerment of young middle school aged girls in our community. Please come out and support this wonderful work and at the same time enjoy the healing and spirited energy of 84 women singing, drumming, dancing and sending out the vibration of peace,love and understanding ! THE DJEMBABES will be performing at the ART KENYA event and auction at The Austin Children's Museum on Saurday evening, October 21st. This is an amazing event and art auction of art created by local artists who received a "message in a bottle" from children orphaned in Kenya with their messages of their "dreams" for their future. These messages have been interpreted by many Austin artists in a multitude of mediums and their creations will be auctioned off at this ART KENYA event at the museum . All the proceeds will be going towards building a school in Kenya for these courageous and beautiful children who have been orphaned by the tragic AIDS epidemic in Kenya.Contact the Austin Children's Museum for details or visit:

The DJEMBABES will be performing for the WUDANG MONKS at another FREE concert at Barton Springs on Monday evening, the Full Moon, July 10th, from 9PM-9:45PM during free swim! This concert will be performed for our special guests, the WUDANG MONKS, who are in town from China for a series of workshops and talks. The public is welcome. We are honored immeasurably to have these distinguished visitors in our city sharing their music,gifts and talents.
