The Djembabes will play Friday evening , March 19th from 7:30pm-9:30pm at DRUMZ in the parking lot in front of Caroline's at 3700 Kerbey Lane( right next door to Kerbey Lane Cafe). Please bring your friends, family, children, Grandparents, and your Drums and rhythm instruments and join us for an evening of Community Music Making as we celebrate together the beginning of Spring and the Spring Equinox! We will honor new beginnings, emergence, the doorway of possibility as we celebrate together through our music sending vibrations of joy and peace out into our community and our world! DRUMZ will be having a Spring Equinox Sale that will begin Friday evening and also take place on Saturday from noon until 6pm! THE DJEMBABES will be performing at a number of wonderful venues in the upcoming weeks! Please join us if you can at one or all of these exciting performances coming up in April!
OUR BIG BENEFIT CONCERT at ST. DAVID'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH DOWNTOWN takes place ON APRIL 10th at 8pm for the Amala Foundation and their incredible summer camp for youth. (www.amalafoundation.org) There will be food, beer and wine available for purchase for those who choose to come early and again at intermission at the church starting at 7pm. The doors for the concert will open at 7:45pm and the show begins at 8pm with a performance by Sherry's Women's Performance Class, The Drumsistas! There are 25 incredible women participating in this performance and it promises to rock the house! After intermission and some information about the Amala Foundation and the work they do to promote and teach Peace on Earth at their Summer Camp for Youth, the Djembabes will play until 10pm. Tickets are $12 in advance ( available at DRUMZ and on line at the DJEMBABES website....www.djembabes.com) and $15 at the door. Please plan to attend this awesome evening of world percussion and song from all these beautiful , talented Austin women! Come ready to dance and let your spirit soar!
On APRIL 13th at Riverbend Baptist Church in the Chapel at 7pm , THE DJEMBABES will be performing at a benefit for Truth Be Told WITH SARA HICKMAN and other guest performers. This Truth Be Told Art Auction : Creating a New Community with Artistic Flair , includes a silent auction, live entertainment, and food. The event takes place at Riverbend Church, April 13, 2010, 6:30pm-8:30pm. Please join us in support of this wonderful organization who work diligently to bring expressive arts programs into Women's Prisons and facilitate the healing and empowerment of these women by providing creative avenues for self expression and the telling of their stories.
The DJEMBABES will rock the house at Momo's on 6th Street on their World Music Night, April 27th from 7pm-9pm! Sponsored by KUT radio, this is a great and really fun venue in downtown Austin and provides the Austin Community an opportunity to hear and enjoy local Asutin musicians every evening. World Music Nights are on Tuesday evenings! Check it out and wear your dancin' shoes!

The DJEMBABES will be performing Saturday, Feb. 27th at Central Market at West 35th St. and N. Lamar Blvd in Austin! Bring the whole family and all your friends and come rock out with Austin's favorite All Women's Drum/Song Ensemble ! The first set is from 6:30pm-7:30pm and set two is from 8pm-9pm! Come early to find a parking place....enjoy shopping at Central Market, have dinner and drinks on the decks at the cafe and listen to the mesmerizing music, rhythms and songs of West Africa performed by a lovely and lively group of 12 Austin women who, though not born in Africa, have had the spirit of Africa born inside them through this powerful and beautiful music! Come dance your spirit free and enjoy an evening of community, a full moon ( almost!), good food, good vibes, goods friends, and relaxation under the Texas skies! FREE!!!

THE DJEMBABES, Austin's FAVORITE All-Women's West African- Style DRUMSONG ENSEMBLE, are taking a performance break until September to rest and re-charge and focus on some new exciting material! Thank-you so much for your enthusiastic support of our group throughout this last year! Your love and support is what keeps us going and we are grateful for each of your beautiful smiling, dancing faces in our audiences! We believe this music is MAGIC! And we believe it is HEALING ! And we believe it can UPLIFT SPIRITS and UNIFY HEARTS! And we KNOW that our communities must dance and sing and make music together if we are to have PEACE ON EARTH and connect to our COMMON GROUND! We love this music and we play and sing and dance from a place deep in our hearts & souls, and we send it out to you with LOVE! We so look forward to our next performance and the opportunity, once again, to share what we love! We will have some exciting new rhythms and songs to move and groove with so wear your dancin' shoes!
