The Djembabes will be playing again at Central Market ( west 38th and Lamar Blvd. on Saturday evening, October 25th from 8-9pm! We are sharing the stage with Rattletreee Marimba and Joel Laviolette! JUNE 20th at Central Market on Lamar at West 38th Street! The Djembabes will be playing at Central Market again at 6:30pm on June 20th! We will play until 7:30pm our first set and then again from 8pm-9pm! Central Market is one of our very favorite venues as it has the feel of a real "village" setting. We love the sounds of children playing and laughing in the distance, all ages enjoying their conversations and sharing meals on the outdoor decks, and everyone and everything vibrating and connecting to the beat of the African Drums! Lots of dancing and singing along at these events! Come and enjoy a warm, relaxing, fun summer night under the stars with the Djembabes! All ages , sizes, colors, and persuasions are warmly invited! "Giving Back to the Motherland" Benefit Concert May 9, 2008

THE DJEMBABE'S BIG BENEFIT CONCERT for The Sankofa Center at Unity of the Hills Church on Anderson Lane in Austin , takes place on May 9th starting at 7:30pm. Doors open at 7pm. Joining us for this amazing event are Rattletree Marimba with Joel Laviolette and also The Bells of Joy! This promises to be one of the most exciting concerts of the year for us! We will also be joined by an all women's drum class from DRUMZ that will delight you! Tickets will be on sale at DRUMZ, 3700 Kerbey Lane starting Friday, April 4th and will also be available at the door. $15 per ticket. As this is a benefit concert, all tickets are $15. Children are welcome but there is no reduction in price. The Sankofa Center does extensive work with AIDS Education and Awareness Programs in Ghana, West Africa and with any luck, we will be live streaming with them in Ghana during this event!How amazing is that?! We hope you will be able to join us for this celebration of life in benefit and in gratitude for the Motherland that has gifted us with this magical and extraordinary African music. Though we in the Djembabes group have not not been born in Africa, we feel that deep in our hearts Africa has been born in us through this music. It is with deep respect and honor that we play and share this music that we have come to love so much. Axe! Axe!

The Djembabes will be performing again at Central Market ( the central location at 38th and Lamar) on Sunday, January 20th, from 12:30pm-1:30pm and again from 2pm-3pm! Join us on Sunday and have brunch on the beautiful decks and enjoy the music and songs of West Africa!

The Djembabes will be playing once again at the Austin Friends of Traditional Music at the MidWinter Fest at the Daugherty Art Center on Barton Springs Road! Join us for an exciting afternoon and evening of music! We will be closing down the show playing at 10pm! Don't miss this chance to rock out with the babes before bedtime!

Performances


The Djembabes will not be performing during August due to traveling and a need for R&R ,but we do have an active schedule in the Fall beginning to line up! We saw many of you at our last two concerts at Ruta Maya ( Global Harmony and then the SOS 15 Year Anniversary Party this last Thursday evening! ) and we thank-you so much for your continued support and enthusiasm! Early Fall gigs:

September 22- AOMA graduation Ceremony  ( Austin Oriental Medicine Academy)

Oct. 6th- Austin Friends of Traditional Music Festival at Central Market South ( Westgate Center) Time : TBA

Nov. 3rd- Texas Book Festival- 10AM  at the Opening

November 10th- Texas State Board of Education annual conference in Austin.
