NEW BEGINNER'S CLASS ADDED ON THURSDAY EVENINGS FROM 6:30pm-7:30PM beginning Feb.
9th! We are already almost totally full to capacity on Wednesday evenings already for the beginner class so I am adding a second beginner class for this first session of 2006! It is so thrilling to find so many people so eager and ready to explore this amazing drummer's path! Please call soon to register at DRUMZ at 453-9090 or email me at sdrumz@austin.rr.com and confirm your seat in this class! There may be folks in the Wednesday class who choose to move to this class so please do call us and get your name on the list even if you can only do Wednesday evenings because at this point we could possibly work that out! It will be FUN to have two beginner classes happening each week! We will have to have a big joint end-of-session-shindig at my home at the end of this session with all my classes and have a "drum off"! Totally non-competitive, just for FUN, kind of a drum off- dualing drums...that kind of thing! See you soon!
Peace, Sherry

The Djembabes,Too group will not be having a Spring performance this year with the Hildegirls, however we may be doing this amazing extravaganza again next Fall so stay tuned! Our performance at Huston-Tillotson over the holidays was an amazing experience and greatly acclaimed by our sell-out audience! So , we have definitely not seen the last of these colloborations with Sherry Gingras and Susan Lincoln! We both look forward to another future celebration together! Thank-you to all the amazing and beautiful women who participated in the Holiday Hildegirl/Djembabe Celebration!YOU are the music! YOU are the rhythm! YOU rocked the house with your passion and your joy!THANK-YOU! With love, Sherry

PS There is something stirring in my soul about a possible Djembabe Performance in late May which would include both the Djembabe performance group ( the smaller performance drumsong ensemble group)and the larger Djembabes,Too class! This would be a performance of ALL DJEMBABES and would be solely drumming, singing and dancing with African inspired music and song and dance! Stay tuned for details in March!I think our fans would love this!

This is a women's circle and we will come together as a supportive, nurturing, warm and wonderful women's group exploring ourselves and our voices through the magic of the drum. Together we will be remembering our natural connection to our own inner rhythms, our own song, and all the natural rhythms surrounding us, as we learn to merge and connect with the rhythms of each woman in our circle without sacrificing or minimizing the integrity and power of our own uniquely awesome and potentially powerful voice and rhythm. Our own inner drum, the heart, will be our guiding force in this class. We will also learn African rhythm patterns, drum hand technque and rhythm fundamentals, but our creative self-expression will be honored, explored. It is an important time on the planet for feminine energy to be grounded, powerfully expressive, inspirational, supported, HEARD and FELT. This class is for those of you on the drummer's path who have completed a beginner's session or two and feel motivated to move on down the path! It is necessary to have your own drum for this class in order that you may practice and move along with the other motivated students in the group! We will work with more complex rhythm combinations, integrate djun/bell combination parts to our pieces, learn more developmental exercises, pick up the pace , and generally groove on down the path together to becoming better, more expressive drummers. Drumming is a language and as in any language, we need vocabulary(various tones) and good pronunciation ( hand technique) to be expressive and clear in our communications! Join us for this fun adventure, deepening our drumming experience as we go.Class begins Tuesday evening , Feb. 7th from 6:30-7:30 pm at DRUMZ.Six week session $75, or$15 per class drop in.

Please register soon for classes by email or phone or come by DRUMZ( leave a message at 453-9090- Hayley, my daughter, is working and has the lists for the classes!I will be out of town from Jan. 15-Feb.5th))! I just need to have your name on the list if you plan to attend any of the Spring Classes so we don't have over crowded conditions! You may pay the first night of class or by Mastercard or Visa on the phone. Thank-you. I am looking forward to seeing everyone soon and I am excited about the leaps and bounds by which drumming has expanded and grown in our Austin Community these last few years! It is truly phenomenal! I am also excited about the expansion of my store, DRUMZ, into the front house on Kerbey Lane in March! This will leave the back house much more open and spacious for classes and it will allow the retail part some actual exposure ( what a concept!)after three years hidden down the lovely path ( which I must admit I have loved!). Anyway, lots of wonderful changes happening in 2006! I look forward to sharing the joy and passion of music and drumming with you real soon!

In peace,

Sherry
